SugamPuja is our own platform for pandits and the families who look for them. Two things were broken in this market. Pandits paid others to be found under their own name. Families had no way to judge who they were calling.
We did not try to fix trust with marketing. We built tools.
The platform
| Layer | Choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Web | Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript | One codebase for pages, tools and the pandit dashboard |
| Data | Prisma on MariaDB | Typed schema, safe migrations release after release |
| Hosting | Our own cloud server in Mumbai, behind Cloudflare | Latency close to the users, and no shared-hosting limits |
| Astrology maths | Swiss Ephemeris | Planet positions computed, never estimated |
| Apps | Expo for Android, push over FCM | One app for families, one for pandits |
A website for every pandit
Every pandit gets a site at name.sugampuja.com. Wildcard DNS and an origin certificate make each subdomain work without manual setup. There are 8 themes. A pandit can preview the site before verification. Enquiries from that site go to that pandit only.
Measured locally on mobile, these sites score 85–89 for performance and 96–100 for accessibility in Lighthouse.
Pages families actually search for
The sitemap holds 276 pages, each answering a real question:
- 157 pages on marriage timing, broken down by ascendant and the house of the 7th lord.
- 32 puja-by-city pages.
- 33 pages explaining doshas, and 13 rashifal pages.
A Cloudflare cache rule cut the daily panchang API from 0.44–1.08s to 0.27s.
Shipping discipline
37 production releases; recent ones each ship with a written rollback path. The astrology suite runs 229 passing tests; the family app runs 186 end-to-end tests. Inside the platform, AI Jyotish answers astrology questions with streamed answers grounded in the computed chart (case study).
What carries over to client work
The same pattern fits any marketplace of independent professionals: a fast site for each provider, honest tools for the customer, and pages written for the questions people actually type.
